Nomads caught napping as Blaby get 3
By Reece Preston-Hayes. Nomads lose 0-3 against Barrow

Nomads were home once more to host another Leicestershire rivalry match up as we welcomed Blaby & Whetstone Athletic to our humble Davidsons Homes Park.
Blaby were coming into the match with a 2 loss streak and Nomads had just narrowly lost out to league leaders West Bridgford but had a win in the week to Barrow. Position favoured Blaby who sat upper midtable while Nomads were on the lower end but we all know how little that plays a part in the performances.
The game got started 10 minutes late but both teams were eager to create chances from the get go, 5 minute in Nomads had a cracking opportunity to gain an early lead when a ball over the top was punched clear by Blaby’s keeper but only as far Will Cheshire, who made his return to the club today, Will hit it on the volley but it narrowly missed the target.
Blaby had the odd chance but it seemed as if Nomads were a slight bit better, looking to nose ahead Joe Hartopp ran on the end of a long ball, but like his Leicester City counterpart the day before, opted for power and thus skied the ball well over the bar and likely most of Anstey.
On the stroke of half time Blaby had a decent play with some good passing down the line and across the wing, a ball came over into the box and a header looked easy to save but it took a slight deflection of the defenders head and in for a goal, against the run of play so far but Blaby gained the lead as the half was called in.
The second half started rather timidly by both sides and a long shot by Blaby was the only talking point of the first 15 minutes, the game began to lose It’s tempo partly due to some questionable calls from the Ref who confused even the linesman at points, he didn’t get everything wrong, Ash Day was lucky to reamin on the pitch after having a lengthy mouth off with the man in the middle, but to make up for his leniency most everyone else was booked for very soft challenges or even the slightest begrudging at decisions, this occurred for both sides but moreso Anstey as we trailed behind.
Blaby would seek to gain a cushion with a solid attack which with another solid header to assert their position as they started to look the better side now.
Play continued to slow with nothing on note to discuss bar a cracking save by Kasper who was in goal only for the second half, he had to reach as far as he could to stop the 3rd goal and did so successfully.
As the game eventually drawn to a close Blaby would march forward once more, adding a 3rd to their lead as a dishearted now ten men Nomads were eager to get off the pitch an avoid any more fines.
It’s a shame Blaby’s goal came when it did in that first half as Nomads were performing well upto that point but with a game slowed down and stopped more than your average NFL (That’s American football) match it’s hard to recover. Fair play to Blaby for getting a vital goal and adding to their lead whenever Nomads looked strong.
Final score: Anstey Nomads 0-3 Blaby & Whetsone
